It's the day when you just feel like giving yourself a Bells.Yes my good people it's friday. It is time for the weekend gig guide. We all know that where there is fun there is alcohol but have you ever thought why people love alcohol so much? Well some people hide behind the media and say it is because of the way alcohol is been marketed and advertised it makes people love it and want to buy it. The adverts on tv make you just want to surrender to a drink or two. Really now?. Well tell me, if all the alcohol adverts would be cut off air. Would that make people stop buying and drinking it?

Alcohol- love it or leave it

If you are able to drink alcohol and stay in control of your actions and remember everything you did the night before the next  morning, then love it. If you drink alcohol and get a black out and you do not know what your own name is or you can not even see if you still dressed or not, then leave it!.

The advertising of alcohol and the marketing of alcoholic products inluding peer pressure and family influence. All play a part in the level of alcohol consumption.

Young people and alcohol

Young people who start drinking alcohol and experiment with alcoholic products at a young age, it is mostly because of the media influence which it has on the youth. The media has a huge effect on the consumption and the usage of alcohol.
Fact is that South Africans consumes the most beer then anyother African country, with an average of 59.2 litres of beer consumed per person annually.
Some people say that we have welcomed alcohol in our cultures way back in the days hence we have umqombothi (African beer).

Do we blame the large amount of alcohol consumption on media or is it just for the love of alcohol? What is your say?
